  • SAA TS-EAS asks for comments on EAD3 v1.1.0

The SAA TS-EAS is about to release a minor update of the new version of EAD3 and wants to collect comments first.

As you probably know the Archives Portal Europe's technical team is working on the implementation of the new version of the EAD standard: EAD3. This new EAD version was released last year by the Technical Subcommittee on Encoded Archival Standards (TS-EAS) of the Society of American Archivists (SAA), which is about to release a minor update of this EAD version: EAD3 version 1.1.0.

But before doing that it wants to collect feedback on the changes included in this update. The plan is to release the updated version 1.1.0 of EAD3, which will include bug fixes and a few other changes to the schema, sometime in March or April 2018 (along with an updated version of the EAD3 Tag Libraries), so comments should be submitted by email to Noah Huffman (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) by Thursday, February 28th 2018.

To ensure that the revision process is as transparent as possible, comments will be made publicly available through the TS-EAS Github portal: github.com/SAA-SDT/EAD3/issues. All comments will be attributed to named individuals and affiliated organisations where appropriate as established during the EAD revision process. At the close of the comment period, TS-EAS will review and respond to comments as necessary in Github.
